Straight From Texas Wires Field

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (September 2, 2016) – The Bob Williams, Jr. owned- and -trained Straight From Texas went straight to the front and then wired the field to score a 14-1 upset in the 870-yard, $20,000 Bill Reed Memorial Stakes on Friday.
The Bill Reed is the first stakes race of the ultimate stakes weekend at Ruidoso Downs, It culminates with the Grade 1, $3 million All American Futurity on Monday afternoon.
The Larry Gamez-ridden Straight From Texas was bearing out in the stretch, yet was still timed in :45.413 on a wet-fast track.
Straight From Texas, a three-year-old son of Fantastic Corona Jr, now has two wins and a third in the Master Salls Handicap at Ruidoso Downs from his three starts over 870 yards. The gelding also won a conditioned 870-yard allowance race by one-and-one-half lengths on July 22.
Jessa Little Rusty was a neck back in second place and it was another neck back to third-place finisher Bet I Make You Famous.
