Dear Steve Long,

Pin Oak is So Much More Than a Horse Show!

HOUSTON/KATY, (Pin Oak Charity Horse Show) – The 69th Annual Pin Oak Charity Horse Show wrapped up today with a variety of hunter and jumper classics and picture perfect spring weather at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas.

This was the biggest and best Pin Oak Charity Horse Show to date, and we couldn’t have accomplished this milestone without our title sponsors, Haras Dos Cavaleiros and Irish Day Farm. More than 1,000 horses competed each week, and thousands of spectators attended the competition events and hospitality functions held daily during the show.

“A record number of sponsors, riders and horses will help push over the top of our goal for next year’s giving,” said Pin Oak Charity Horse Show President Lynn Walsh.

This year, Pin Oak hosted four grand prix show jumping events with $110,000 in prize money, generously sponsored by Walter Oil & Gas, Bisso Marine, Hildebrand Fund and Moet Hennessy. Our top hunters were showcased in a USHJA International Hunter Derby and two USHJA National Hunter Derby classes with a combined purse of $50,000, sponsored by Valobra Master Jewelers, the Jarvis Family and Georgia Carter and John Brown.

Five years ago, The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show received the first United States Equestrian Federation Heritage Horse Show designation, and we are proud to carry that tradition forward as one of the only USEF-rated all-breed competitions in the country. In addition to two weeks of Premier Hunter/Jumper competition, we hosted world-class American Saddlebreds, Hackney ponies, Andalusians, Lusitanos and a variety of other breeds that took part in the Working Equitation events.

Lyle Lovett

“All sponsors, exhibitors, vendors and other equestrian professionals, volunteers and spectators came together to make this an amazing two weeks,” said Walsh. “We, at Pin Oak, thank each and every person who has helped us create one of the best shows in North America.”

Pin Oak holds the honor of being the first donor to Texas Children’s Hospital in 1947 by donating that seed money to begin the planning and building of the world-renowned pediatric hospital we know today.

In 2013, thanks to our many supporters, we donated $200,000 to our charities: Texas Children’s Hospital; Ronald McDonald Family Rooms inside Texas Children’s Hospital and Candelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance. The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show has now donated more than $5.5 million to charity, and we look forward to continuing that proud tradition in 2014 with the support of the many generous corporate and personal sponsors that took part this year.

Be sure to save the dates for the 70th Pin Oak Charity Horse Show in 2015, as it promises to be a great celebration, and we are already working on making it a memorable two weeks in Texas!
