CHARAL KID JUST HOLDS ON TO WIN THE GRADE 1 $75,000 REFRIGERATOR HANDICAP AT LONE STAR PARK
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Lone Star Park) – Charal Kid won the 16th running of the Grade 1, $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie tonight and secures a berth in the finals of the $750,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos this December.
Owned by Malinche Cattle Co., Inc. and trained by Eusevio Huitron, Charal Kid, ridden by Santos Carrizales just held on to the wire. Closing fast, Mr Truly Uno, missed by a head to take place. Post time favorite Jls Mr Bigtime put in a solid effort, but lost the show by a nose to Priceless Feature. Final time for the 440-yard race for three-year-olds and up was 21.323 over a fast track.
With the win, Charal Kid improved his lifetime stats to 18 wins from 44 starts. The gelded son of Streakin La Jolla, with the winners’ share of $41,250 increased his lifetime earnings to $465,319.
Charal Kid paid $35.20, 18.40, 7.00; runner-up Mr Truly Uno returned $8.60, 6.20, and Priceless Feature paid $3.80 for show. Jls Mr Bigtime, Dm Streakin Thru Fire, Prospect to the Top, Dale N James, Chi Ter, Royal D Corona and Im the Key completed the order of finish.
