Pro Slaughter’s Sue Wallis Claims Ambush on NPR Station – Hangs Up on Interview and Blasts Guests in Press Release

Sue Wallis Ambushed in Media Setup by Animal Rights Bullies

From United Horsemen’s Dave Duquette – Earlier today, Sue Wallis, our former vice president, and staunch advocate for the humane and regulated processing of horses, was asked to participate in a telephone interview to present the horse industry’s view of the issue.

Only after the interview began did it become clear that it was a set up organized specifically to harass and vilify Sue Wallis personally, and the horse industry in general. Without informing her beforehand, the show included HSUS’ Wayne Pacelle, Madeleine Pickens, and R.T. Fitch all attacking Wallis with unfounded, unethical, and fallacious sound bites in an obviously choreographed ambush.

Sue Wallis agreed to the radio interview with Sasha Rethati on her show “Sound Off with Sasha” on a local NPR radio station in Southwest Florida believing that she would be interviewed about the horse industry and the need for humane and regulated processing in U.S. See the email inquiry below.

When it was Sue’s opportunity to speak she was rudely interrupted by the other guests, meanwhile the host of the show, who was obviously a co-conspirator, also interrupted Wallis in an attempt to bait her with loaded, inflammatory questions.

While Sue did agree to the interview, what she did not agree to was the ambush that was about to take place on air.  It was never announced by the show’s producer or show beforehand that Sue would be joined on air by Pacelle,  Pickens, and Fitch–all leaders of the radical anti-slaughter, anti-agriculture, anti-horse industry animal rights brigade.

R.T. Fitch in particular has waged a vicious, unprincipled, and unrelenting campaign of libel and slander pointed personally at Sue Wallis for years. At the point when Wallis realized his participation, she refused any further interaction and left the interview.

“There is no point in carrying on any sort of dialog with rabid radicals who have ulterior motives,” says Wallis, “animal rights radicals are not interested in helping horses, if they were, they would be doing what we are doing, and that is collaborating with the international horse world to ensure that all horses, regardless of their circumstances, are handled humanely. Instead, they choose to vilify and attack the honest, hard-working, horse industry families of the U.S. by stealing their opportunity to make a living with animals, and to use misleading emotional rhetoric to fund-raise for their six figure salaries, and their multi-million dollar pension funds, while spending less than 1/2 of 1% of their ill-gotten gains to help a single dog, or cat, let alone a horse.”

Please let your views be known by commenting on, or calling their hotline at 877-428-8255. This host and her listeners need to hear from real horse people, from the tribes whose heritage and values are being co-opted without their support and against their interests by Pickens, by anyone in animal agriculture who is under assault from HSUS, and anyone who respects common decency and the truth.

    Stop Torture for profit!
Suffered brain explosion upon reading the “press release” – which was NOT meant as an honest announcement of facts but cunningly designed to mislead, deceive and push their own barbaric agenda of horse slaughter.
In the recent years since first learning about Sue Wallis and her campaign for the “humane treatment of horses” by the most sadistic and horrifically brutal and violent methods on earth, (and her relentless push in order to profit from it), the entire thing has made me heart-sick and flares my defenses which were sparked at an early age.
My father and his father were ranchers all their lives, with a special care and interest in horses. My grandfather was a renowned “horse vet” and trainer in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Although I didn’t know Grand-Dad very well, as he passed away when I was young, many say I have his “special way” with animals, and horses in particular.
The first memory of my own efforts for animal advocacy was at the tender age of 5 years, when my family attended the Pendleton Roundup, a popular rodeo in our area. My young eyes witnessed the rough treatment of the horses, calves, steers and Brahma bulls and I started screaming, “Stop hurting them!” All the “shushing” and explanation did nothing to calm or convince me. Still screaming, and fighting to escape the arms of my parents so I could personally get down there and make the cruelty STOP, I was carried out and have never seen animals in the same way again. Ever since, I’ve been committed to stand in the gap to stop and prevent the mistreatment, abuse and neglect of the innocent and the powerless.
It is through this perspective that I see Ms Wallis as a predator, and she admits that her “interest” in horses is to send them to slaughter and make a healthy profit for herself. The innocent heart of a 5 year old, uncorrupted by greed and hate, rises up in me, causing me to try to put myself in-between the predator and the innocent, defenseless victims.
I will never stop advocating for the innocent victims of this world, until I draw my last breath. Life is NOT about how much money and possessions you can gather for yourself no matter who you have to harm and torture to get it. NO! Real life is about living so as to cause as little harm as possible and in that time, to help, comfort and encourage those who are downtrodden, broken, and have no voice to protect themselves.

In conclusion: There is no justification for inflicting sadism and torture on the innocent and powerless. And to PROFIT from it is beyond CRIMINAL. It is EVIL personified!! Torture for profit MUST STOP!!

Wow. As a public relations major in college, I have to say that you should be completely embarrassed at publishing anything that looks like this. From the first sentence it is obvious you are on the attack and are trying to hide something. Personal opinions aside, you should be mortified. Anyone who reads this will know that you are hiding something and trying to dig yourself out of a hole… and anyone who knows the truth knows how despicable this behavior is on your part. I read the comments made in this interview, and the only one on the attack is the one who felt the need to write this.
Yes, you not only embarrassed yourself on the air but also in this press release! Please continue to do so so the rest of America will be able to see straight through you, just like REAL HORSE LOVERS DO.

Rabid radicals? Really? Let me get this straight – advocates are not interested in helping horses because we are not conspiring with foreign interests to inhumanely slaughter & eat our beloved horses? Our 6 figure salaries (?) prevent us from supporting AQHA’s (and other breeder associations)overbreeding to supply foreign markets with tainted flesh? I can not even believe this person was elected for public service – what a total ignoramus and complete liar.

Wallis is an ignorant woman who can’t handle being challenged. However, I think it would have been better if she was informed about the other speakers.By doing this we look like a bunch of crazies out in left field. We need to ensure that we stand tall, speak the truth and handle matters honestly.

Correction. The other guests were posted for at least a couple of days before air time.

That supposes that (1) Wallis bothered to prepare, and (2) she can read AND comprehend.

Based on issue effort (HCHS) and demonstrated behavior by Rep Wallis and her associations/associates, it would reflect neither.

She also have corporate ag/big meat supporting her and has a false sense of assurance and confidence.

How’s the saying go? ….”Money talks and bullsh*t walks”. It would appear we have both truths in this situation, with a twist.

This woman and her supporters are constantly trolling the Internet. She has made somewhat personal comments about Madeleine Pickens and her efforts to save wild horses as well as the roll Mrs. Pickens may have played when horse meat inspectors were defunded. Check out the 2010 edition of Range Magazine. It’s the mustang edition.

wallis can’t handle the truth. The American people (the 80%) acknowledge our horses as an American Icon. Our heritage. Only a traitor to our way of life would want to harm our horses. We would NOT be here if not for our trusted, loyal horses. Maria Daines, award winning UK singer, song writer, wrote and sang this song for our Horses. If you don’t feel this, you don’t deserve to live in this country.

Could you explain to us just how can spending over 99% of your donation to HSUS that is spent on other than feeding these poor starving animals is HELPING the starving ANIMALS? Here is your ANSWER

As is so often the case, apparently, you are in need of a correction, Joe.

      1. Collecting $19 or any amount of funds is helping an animal whether it is lobying or helping an animal in a rescue. “Help” is the key word here. It has many meanings, and in this case it is helping in the halls of Congress, the states, and in the courts. To clarify further, oocal humane societies run animal shelters such as the huge one here in Houston. They are separate from the U.S. Humane Society.

      2. Horseback has long said that it has taken no position on slaughter, not that it actively supports the practice. It has, however, taken a very strong position against use of the captive bolt gun and the matter of cruelty to animals.

Cut the crap, Joe. You’ve had your answer. You are either acting now as a shill for interests who would slaughter horses at any cost including those animals with dangerous chemicals, or you are just to dense to remain on this forum because you are intellectually incapable of keeping pace with the rest who post here. I’ve given you your answer again and again and my patience is at an end.

What does HSUS have to do with Rep Wallis running?

More deflection, spin and ignorance of the real issue here….and it AIN’T HSUS. HSUS is the least of your problems regarding Human Consumption Horse Slaughter (HCHS) in the US.

Is anyone else starting to see a pattern in the United Horsemen’s Front and the United Organizations of the Horse and some other groups also targeting HSUS? This is just getting curiouser and curiouser.

They are targeting HSUS because of their legislative strength on this issue and their track record of animal welfare reform. United Horsemen (who are neither united, nor horsemen) loves to perpetuate ridiculous paranoia among their ranks, and of course the slaughter pushers eat it right up.
